Newborn Clothing Essentials on Amazon India: The Realistic Checklist
Baby stores will sell you forty things. A newborn needs about eight, in the right quantities. This is the checklist we'd hand a first-time parent in India — realistic counts, why each item earns its place, and what to skip.
The checklist (0–3 months)

- Wash everything before first wear. A gentle detergent rinse removes finishing chemicals — soft clothes, happier baby.
What to skip
Newborn shoes, jeans, dry-clean-only anything, outfits with back buttons (they sleep on their backs), and "0–3 month" party wear — the event photo takes ten minutes; the outfit's discomfort lasts the evening.
Indian-weather note
For summers and humid coastal cities: half-sleeve bodysuits plus a muslin layer beat any single thick garment. For north-Indian winters: layer a full-sleeve bodysuit under a romper and add a cap — layers you can remove indoors beat one heavy suit.
